ADOPTED ENGLAND HOCKEY POLICIES

ADOPTED ENGLAND HOCKEY POLICIES

Blueharts Hockey Club are affiliated with England Hockey and were awarded ClubMark accreditation in October 2022. This recognition confirms that we meet – and strive to exceed – the best practice standards set out by our sport’s national governing body.

Below are links to the England Hockey policies we adhere to. These are reviewed and reaffirmed annually by the Executive Committee. As a club, we are committed to upholding not only the letter of these policies, but also their spirit.

SAFEGUARDING AND PROTECTING YOUNG PEOPLE AT OUR CLUB

England Hockey believes that all young people have the right to be safe and to enjoy their involvement in hockey. It is committed to promoting their welfare and protecting them from harm. For safeguarding purposes, a young person is defined as anyone under the age of 18.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. England Hockey’s safeguarding policy for young people is called SafeGuard – and we encourage all members to read it. Specific sections apply to different roles within the club.

The policy outlines the responsibilities of those who adopt it, how to recognise poor practice or abuse, how to report concerns and includes useful contacts, templates and further guidance.

All hockey clubs, associations, and individuals – regardless of their role or direct contact with young people – are bound by this policy.

Blueharts Hockey Club has formally adopted the SafeGuard policy, and our certificate of commitment is available for all current and prospective members to view.

Blueharts-specific safeguarding processes and reporting procedures are available to members via our Teamo app.

Blueharts also adopts and uses the Respect Code of Conduct and expects all its members, parents, young people, coaches, captains and officials to be aware of it and abide by it.
