Blueharts Ladies 1s started February as they had finished January – with three points after a 1-0 win at Bishops Stortford.
Helen Clarke scored the only goal of the game following an assist from player-of-the match Jay Livermore as the Blues made it three successive wins, staying second in East Division 1 South.
The side will be looking to reduce the five-point gap on leaders St Albans when they take on Crostyx this coming Saturday.
The Men’s 1s came back from the long trip to Ipswich without reward as they went down 2-0 – their performance was better than in last week’s defeat by Broxbourne but missed chances proved costly.
A scintillating second half saw the Ladies 2s beat Stevenage 4-0 after a scrappy, goalless first period.
Kate Sherwood laid the foundations for the opening goal with a brilliant hit into the path of Josie Layton who applied the finish.
Rosie Ross doubled the lead after a short corner, her shot taking a deflection off a Stevenage defender.
A short corner also led to Blueharts’ third where Carly Madders found Ross who scored at the right post – Madders then turned scorer from a rebound to put the gloss on an excellent win.
As with the Men’s 1s, the 2s were beaten 2-0 by St Albans at home.
A second successive hat-trick from Ashley Hammond helped the Men’s 3s to a 7-2 win over the 4s – Ben Hammond, Barry Hann, Sean Storey and Harry Storey were also on the scoresheet.
Rory Williams and Will Hammond managed consolation goals for the 4s.
The Ladies 3s battled back from 4-0 down against Bishops Stortford with goals from Kat McLarty and Emily Bryan but that was as good as it got as they were beaten 4-2.
Blueharts were also indebted to a brilliant goal-line save from Hatty Hoskyns and standout displays from Lyla Thompson-Wells and Live Frost, guesting from the 4s.
A Daisy Bradford double helped the Ladies 4s to a thumping 5-1 win at St Albans with other goals coming from Niamh Krishman, Amy Williams and Ella Lock.
The Ladies 5s got off to a storming start against Bishops Stortford with Rocio Santana, Talin Keoshgerian and Abbie Johnson all on target in the first half – the visitors pulled one back but the 5s eased to a 3-1 win.
There was defeat for the Ladies 6s however as they went down by a single goal at home to Royston.
It looked like a regulation victory for the Men’s 6s when they went 3-0 up on Stevenage with goals from Harri Flinn, Dave Moore and Paul Krishman.
But Stevenage turned the tables and despite a debut goal for man-of-the-match Freddy Baxter, the 6s were held to a 4-4 draw.
Despite a goal from Barney King, the Men’s 7s lost 2-1 at home to Bishops Stortford – however the Men’s 8s’ unbeaten record is still intact after a 4-0 win against their Stortford opponents.
Tom Payne scored twice with Will Michie and Max Bond adding the others, while goalkeeper Will Faulkner maintained his record of not conceding a goal this year.
It was a successful Sunday for the club’s Over 45s sides, the Men’s team beat Ipswich 4-1 on penalty strokes after a 0-0 draw in regulation time.
The Ladies side found the going slightly easier, beating Oxford 11-0!
