Men's 1s and 2s excel in key victories for Blueharts

Blueharts Men’s 1s moved into the top four in the East Premier Division after an excellent 2-1 win at second-placed Saffron Walden on Saturday.

A goalless first half turned into Blueharts domination after the break and their superiority was underlined by goals from man-of-the-match Harvey Walton-Adams and Chris Gadsden.

The 1s – fourth in the table - now sit four points behind Saturday’s opponents and take on Old Southendians at home this coming weekend.

The Ladies 1s were beaten 1-0 at Colchester in East Division One South and now sit fourth in the table – and like the men, take on Old Southendians this Saturday.

Goals from Paul Buckland, Oscar Hammond and James Morris earned the Men’s 2s a 3-1 win over a vocal Havering side, while the Ladies 2s were held to a 2-2 draw by Saffron Walden. Kiki Arellano scored from the top of the D just 10 seconds before half-time to level the score at 1-1. Kate Sherwood then converted a penalty flick to put Blueharts ahead, but Saffron Walden equalised with around 10 minutes remaining.

Emily Bryan and Fi Hutchings were on target as the Ladies 3s came from behind to gain a 2-1 against rivals Letchworth, with Jules Rees producing a player-of-the match performance.

The match also saw a 3s debut fort Daisy Bradford and a stand-in coaching stint from Emma Saddler.

It was another family affair for the Men’s 3s as the Hammond brothers scored five of their side’s seven goals at Hertford, Ben scoring a treble and Ashley two.

Ollie Wright and Joe Dalrymple were also on the scoresheet in the comfortable win.

Harry Sampson was another hat-trick scorer as the 4s also hit seven against Southgate Adelaide.

Noah Tingle, Dan Harvey and Gillan Ide also scored in the 7-2 success.

The Ladies 4s were beaten by the odd goal in five at home to Berkhamsted, but the 5s won 3-1 at Stevenage.

Hayden Haywood and Pete Mitchell scored for the 5s but they went down 4-2 at Broxbourne, while the 6s were held 3-3 by Bedford with John Russell, Paul Krishman and Alec Gadsden grabbing the goals.

The Ladies 6s ran out 3-0 winners over Saffron Walden but the 7s went down 3-2 to St Albans.

Harry Palmer’s goal earned the Men’s 7s a 1-1 draw against St Albans to stretch their unbeaten run to four games – while George Gregory gave a man-of-the-match performance.

Palmer scored at the back post after a well-worked short corner routine as the 7s moved up to fourth in the table.

Max Bond was another Bluehart who collected a hat-trick as his treble helped the Men’s 8s to a 5-1 win at Saffron Walden.

Captain Dan Holder and debutant Alex Macbeth were also on target, with Tim Michie earning plaudits for his offer to act as goalkeeper.
