2025/26 Season - Week 11

Strong performances and late drama across the club

The Men’s 1s produced a remarkable late comeback to earn a 3–3 home draw against Cambridge City 1s. After struggling to convert earlier chances and falling 3–0 behind, Blueharts surged in the final quarter. A penalty stroke converted by Liam Stevens began the fightback, followed a minute later by a well-taken finish from man of the match Harvey Walton-Adams. With the final play of the game, Tom Russell completed the turnaround to secure a dramatic and hard-earned point.

The Ladies’ 1s recorded an impressive 2–0 away win against Broxbourne 2s. Harriet Marsh opened the scoring at the back post in the first half, and the side remained in control throughout. In the closing stages, Marsh won a short corner that Olivia Byford dispatched with a powerful straight strike to seal the victory.

The Men’s 2s delivered a commanding 7–0 home win over Broxbourne 2s to finish the first half of the season at the top of the table. Goals came from Paul Buckland, Graham Burr and Jamie Williams, alongside a hat-trick from Richard Middleditch, with Rory Williams adding a sharp reverse-stick finish from a tight angle.

The Ladies’ 2s battled hard in a 5–2 away defeat to Stevenage 1s. Despite the scoreline, Blueharts created strong attacking opportunities and converted two well-earned goals. The team showed determination throughout against a high-placed opponent.

The Men’s 3s secured an emphatic 7–1 home win over Bedford 4s. Matthew Scott led the scoring with a hat-trick, Daniel Harvey added two, and further goals from Ashley Hammond and Piers Douglas rounded off a dominant performance.

The Ladies’ 3s earned a 2–2 home draw against Stevenage 2s. Goals from Katrina McLarty and Julie Rees ensured Blueharts took a deserved point from a competitive match.

The Ladies’ 4s were narrowly defeated 4–3 at home to Harpenden 2s.

The Men’s 5s fell to a 3–1 away loss against Stevenage 2s in a top-of-the-table clash. Blueharts found themselves two goals down at half-time after struggling to settle under Stevenage’s physical, high-pressing approach. A strong 20-minute spell after the break saw improved attacking momentum, and Scott Cromack pulled a goal back with ten minutes remaining. Despite late pressure, a further Stevenage goal ended the contest. The team move to second but remain well-placed after an excellent first half of the season.

The Ladies’ 5s were beaten 4–1 away by Harpenden 3s despite enjoying long spells of possession. Their opponents’ pace on the counter proved decisive, though Blueharts registered a well-taken goal from Niamh Hartley.

The Men’s 6s earned a strong 2–1 home win against Shefford & Sandy 2s, with both goals scored by Paul Krishman.

The Ladies’ 6s lost 2–1 at home to Welwyn Garden City 3s, with all goals arriving in a lively first-half spell. After conceding twice in quick succession, Blueharts responded through Grace Winfield. Despite sustained pressure—including a late push with the goalkeeper withdrawn—their efforts were repeatedly denied by an outstanding opposition keeper. Player of the match was Haidee Graves following a superb team performance recognised across the squad.

The Men’s 7s claimed a hard-earned 2–2 away draw against Shefford & Sandy 3s, with goals from George Raynor and George Gregory.

The Ladies’ 7s secured a strong away win against Welwyn Garden City 4s Development.

The Men’s 8s continued their winning run with a 1–0 home victory over Shefford & Sandy 4s. After early pressure went unrewarded, captain Dan Holder turned in a long ball at the back post to give Blueharts the lead. Despite a scrappy remainder of the match, the defence remained resolute to secure another clean sheet. The result extends their lead at the top of the division to 12 points.

A great weekend of hockey with plenty more to come next week.
