A great weekend of hockey for our Juniors.
U8's - A's, B's and C's won some, lost some....all improved throughout, a lovely morning at Letchworth (not very often I say that :-D). A big thank you to our junior umpires Max and Charlie, and for keeping the children entertained between games.
U10 girls - The C team was made up of all new players and did an amazing job by remaining unbeaten, wining 2 games and drawing their last.
Having lost almost our entire A team and half our B team to U12’s, we put in a B team who at last minute stepped up to A pool to help out other clubs. They lost all three games, but managed to score in final game to put the smiles back on their faces, with some promising performances by some of the girls coming up from U8’s.
U10 Boys - Entered 1 team into the A tier, they played 3 matches and won 6-0, 2-0 and drew the last game. Never mind that this was the first match with limited practice and a few new players, they all played really well.
Everyone contributed, there was some superb goal keeping from Lucas and great defence from Rufus and Lawrence, with Barnaby as top goal scorer. We are really proud of the effort the boys put in and we can't wait for the next tournament.
U12 Girls - The A team won 1 game and drew 3. The B team drew 1 and lost 3 (all 1-0)
U12 Boys - A1: 1-0; 0-1, 1-1 A2: 0-3; 0-0; 1-1 B: 2-0; 1-0; 0-1 C: 0-0; 1-1; 0-1
Really pleased with all the boys. It was great to get four teams out. Thanks so much to Stuart Gadson for organising and everyone else who helped, including parents in the kiosk. Brilliant!!
U14 Girls - One team travelled to Broxbourne to play in the Herts Tournament, they played 2 games and won both games 3-0, 3-1. The other team travelled to Harpenden to play in the East league, they lost 3-2.
After a tentative start and losing 3-1 early on in the second half the girls suddenly turned a corner. They all stepped up and started taking the game to Harpenden with multiple attacks from all angles. We scored an amazing goal to make it 3-2, building from our own back like with some triangles down the right, beating players into the d and then crossing in for a back post finish. It was so good. We were so close to getting an equaliser as well when we broke through and unfortunately hit the post. Libby our keeper from U12 made some amazing double saves to keep us in the game and it finished 3-2 to Harpenden. We were so proud of them though and they were unrecognisable from the team they looked like when they arrived. Great first game. The power of belief!
U14 Boys - The U14 boys drew 2-2 against Berkhampsted. It was a great result given the depleted team and there were no subs.
U16 Girls - Travelled to Bishop Stortford with 10 players - and won 3-2, they were awesome.
U16 Boys - They played an incredibly high standard of game against Hertford. They took the lead first with a cracking goal from Ethan Gaunt before Hertford got one back despite a great initial save from GK Cam Carr. A restructured formation at half time led to wider distribution and BHC took the lead again with a slick worked goal from Lewis Cromack. The boys pressed hard, came close to scoring again but were unable to stop Hertford drawing back an agonising 1 min from FT.
2-2 Gaunt Cromack
Excellent team warm down lead by Captain Cromack. These boys were outstanding and I couldn’t have asked for any more commitment.
Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to all those parents who served in the servery on Sunday - We managed to make a great profit of £180. We are going to try and carry this momentum forward and trial opening the servery every Sunday with help from the new chef who is going to provide hot food. Therefore, if you can spare 30 mins to help in the servery whilst your child is training, it would be massively appreciated.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
