That’s a wrap! The final week of Summer Hockey delivered some exciting matches and confirmed the champions in both the Cup and the Plate competitions.
On Monday, Young Offenders edged out Letchworth in a close 3-2 battle, while on Tuesday Luton Social XI got the better of Ringers (2-1) and Little Deers squeezed past Renegades (1-0) to keep their title charge alive.
Wednesday saw Bed by 9 finish strong with a 4-2 win over Stevenage, and BH Indies dominated BH Allsorts Alces 5-0. On Thursday, BH Wrinkled and Reckless proved too strong for BH Allsorts Moose (4-1), while Harpenden and BH Allstars couldn’t be separated, drawing 1-1.
In the final round of fixtures, Luton Social XI hammered Stevenage 6-1, Young Offenders took a statement 4-2 win against Bed by 9, and Renegades beat Letchworth 4-2 to cement their place near the top of the table.
After weeks of brilliant hockey, Little Deers are crowned Cup champions, finishing clear at the top after a consistent season. In the Plate, Harpenden take the honours, just edging out BH Wrinkled and Reckless and BH Allstars in a tight race.
This year marked the first time we introduced a Plate division, giving even more teams the chance to compete. We’re proud to have made it happen and will take our learnings forward to make next summer’s competition even better.
A huge thank you to all players, umpires and supporters who made this another fantastic summer of hockey!
