A strong weekend across the club, with several unbeaten runs continuing and plenty of standout performances throughout the teams.
A home game full of energy and attacking intent saw Blueharts Ladies’ 1s take a deserved 4–1 victory over Bedford 2s. An early short corner was converted by Molly Soward within the first five minutes, before Lucy Nissen added a second from a sharp roll-out in the D. Bedford pulled one back just before half-time, but Blueharts responded strongly after the break. A well-taken drag flick from Jay Livermore restored the two-goal cushion, and a final short corner routine saw Liv Byford’s strike deflected home by Nissen to seal the win.
Blueharts Men’s 2s continued their strong form with a hard-fought win away against St Albans 3s. The hosts opened the scoring early, but Ollie Wright equalised before the interval. The second half remained competitive, with standout performances from Addison Scott, debutant Sam Ray-Jones, and Joe Williams. Midway through the half, Graham Burr finished at the back post to secure an important three points.
The Ladies 2s recovered from an early setback to record a confident 3–1 victory at home. Alice Saunders levelled the scores before half time, and second-half goals from Josie Layton and Kate Sherwood completed the turnaround. Cindy Dixon made key saves at the back to maintain control of the game. Player of the Match went to Charlotte Brakenbury, who celebrated her 18th birthday with an excellent all-round performance.
A composed performance saw the Men’s 3s secure a 3–0 away win against Harpenden 2s, with goals from Piers Douglas, Daniel Harvey, and Matthew Scott ensuring a well-earned clean sheet.
The Ladies’ 3s battled hard to earn a point in a competitive 2–2 away draw against Saffron Walden 3s. Alice Winton and Fiona Hutchings were on the scoresheet in a game of end-to-end hockey.
A tight contest saw the Men’s 4s come away with a point from a 1–1 away draw against Southgate Adelaide 1s, Matthew Maylin scoring the Blueharts goal.
In a top-of-the-table clash, the Ladies’ 4s shared the spoils with St Albans 5s. Blueharts twice came from behind, with Joanna Floor and Claudia Taylor both converting well-worked short corner routines. Players of the Match were jointly awarded to Floor and Taylor for their attacking creativity.
The Men’s 5s extended their unbeaten run with another determined performance at home to Cheshunt 1s. Pete Mitchell opened the scoring from a short corner, and Phil Britton added another before half time. After the visitors equalised, Harri Flinn restored the lead from an Ed MacGregor assist, before Mitchell converted a late penalty flick to secure victory.
A confident team performance at home saw the Ladies’ 5s take all three points in their game against Bedford 6s, with goals from Freya Pledge, Niamh Hartley-Matthews, and Izzy Marshall. Lauren Hooper earned Player of the Match for her composure and control.
Despite goals from Zac Thomas and David Moore, the Men’s 6s were unable to overcome a clinical St Albans 5s side, going down 5–2 at home.
A strong defensive effort away from home helped the Ladies’ 6s edge out Saffron Walden 5s. Annabelle Hone scored after just two minutes and later earned Player of the Match for her tireless work across the pitch. The team remain top of their division.
The Men’s 7s fell narrowly short in a competitive match away vs Herts 5s, with Blueharts unable to convert in a 1–0 defeat.
In a friendly fixture at home, the Ladies’ 7s put in a strong team display against a youthful Bedford 7s side. Despite a late penalty flick goal, Blueharts were edged out 2–1. Thanks to all players who doubled up to make the game possible.
Blueharts Men’s 8s rediscovered their attacking rhythm with a comprehensive win away over Royston 3s. First-half goals from Thomas Flinn, Dan Holder, and Tom Payne gave the visitors control, before Flinn added two more in the second half to complete his hat-trick. The result marks an eighth consecutive win and extends their lead at the top of the division.
