Blueharts Ladies 1s had to settle for a derby day draw as they were held 1-1 by Letchworth in the East Division One South on Saturday.
A Jay Livermore goal gave them a share of the points with the Blues lying third in the table after two games ahead of a match against leaders Old Loughtonians at home this coming weekend.
The Ladies 2s improved on last week’s draw against Harpenden with a thrilling 3-2 win over Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead.
Blueharts started slowly and went a goal down inside the first five minutes but a great finish from Ally Antoniou put them on level terms.
However, Berkhamsted restored their lead before half-time, leaving the Blues with an uphill task in the second period.
They responded superbly as Carly Madders found Meme Brown on the post from a short corner to equalise.
Blueharts began to assert their superiority as player-of-the-match Natalie Gibbs took a grip of midfield – within minutes Brown had added another to give her side a battling 3-2 win.
The Men’s 1s fared less well in the East Premier Division, going down 7-2 to a powerful Bedford side, despite consolations from Ben Apperly and Alex Krekis.
Paul Buckland and Matt Scott were on target for the 2s but they were beaten 6-2 at Sudbury.
A brilliant individual effort from player-of-the-match Lyla Thomson-Wells gave the Ladies 4s a 1-0 win over Shefford & Sandy, with their hard-working midfield at the heart of their efforts.
Emilia Saul gave the 5s the lead against Chiltern 1s with a shot from the top of the D, with Elsie Burston doubling the advantage after the break.
Joel Davey was the star of the show for the Men’s 5s but his hat-trick was in vain as his side went down 4-3 to a strong Vauxhall side.
But there was better news for the 4s as Sean Storey scored twice in their 4-2 win at Bedford.
The Men’s 6s made the journey to Potters Bar only to find Southgate Adelaide couldn’t raise a full side – so were handed the obligatory 5-0 concession.
To make the trip worthwhile, the 6s loaned the opposition for a friendly fixture, with Paul Krishman scoring four, Charlie Moore and Gav Bidgood two and Simon Little once.
After his debut hat-trick last week, Freddie Baxter was on target again for the Men’s 7s as they drew 2-2 at Bishops Stortford, Chris Platt scoring the other.
But the 7s were unfortunate not to collect all three points after Stortford equalised with the last short corner of the game – the final whistle having already been blown.
The 7s’ excellent team spirit was epitomised by George Raynor whose job as an on-call pilot saw him fly to Kerry and back in the morning and then driving to Stortford to fill in with his team short of players!
And the newly-formed Men’s 8s produced a sparkling six-goal show against Bishops Stortford – with two goals for James Moore and one apiece for Max Bond, man-of-the-match Thomas Flynn, Mark Wakeling and Dan Holder.
